Ways of protecting your cell phone

Due to the increasing number of mobile loss and thefts, people are looking for various ways of protecting their cell phones. Outlined below are some ways you can use to protect your phone:

Take note of some details about your phone: write down certain information about your phone and keep it in a safe place. Some of the things you can note down are the phone number, the make and model of the cell phone, color and appearance details, pin number, security lock code and the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number. To know your IMEI number (serial number) of your cell phone, you can dial *#06#. This number is especially important because you can have your cell phone blocked if it goes missing so that no one uses it.

You can use passwords to lock your phone. Passwords that are available on many phones are security lock code and PIN codes. This may make the phone less valuable to the person who takes your phone.

Put a security mark on your phone: One can use an ultra violet pen to put a mark on your mobile phone handset. You can put a mark that can you can identify as your own like initials of your name etc. This makes it easily identifiable as your property if lost or stolen. It would be good to put contact information so that incase some one finds it (hoping the person is good) he will be able to contact you. The ultra-violet pen marking wears off after a couple o months so reapplication would be necessary.

But in spite of all the above you can track your missing cell phone wherever it goes.
