How to trace your stolen Cell Phone

One of the most difficult things to do with your cell phone is how to totally protect it. This is because you never know when you may fall into the hands of thugs or you never know when someone pickpockets you or you never know when your phone slips out of your pocket when seated on a chair. Therefore, cell phone security is something that cannot be totally handled. There are some things about your mobile phone that your manufacturers and mobile vendors never tell you. I am here to enlighten you on some of them.

Most products, if not all, have serial numbers. For mobile phones, they are called IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) numbers. It has been found out that if you know this number and send it to the mobile phone service providers they will be able to block the cell phone from working and the person who has it will not benefit from it. You can know your IMEI number by dialing *#06# (try it out now and see for yourself). Although this is not totally security because it does not get your phone back, you can use it together with the next method to try and get it back.

NB: It would be good if you note it down somewhere and keep it safe.

Advancements in technology have made it possible for you to track where your mobile phone is. With this technology, cases of mobile phone theft are bound to drop. This technology is the Ujanja Lost Mobile Tracking System. This software is downloadable on 3G (3rd generation) cell phones that are data enabled and also internet enabled. The software can either be download directly on the phone or one could use a data cable to get it onto the phone. For the software to be activated you need to purchase an activation code.
So in case on this fateful day you lose your phone or it gets stolen, once the person who has it removes your sim card from your phone, an sms is sent to a certain cell phone number (which you had provided during the download of the tracking software) giving the cell phone number and details of the sim card of the person using the phone. You can then call the person and tell them that they are using your phone. You can go further and tell them you are keeping track of their movements. This is all to help you get your phone back.
