Know where your stolen cell phone is
It has been found out by researchers that cell phone theft is a booming business. Well the main underlying reason for theft in general is poverty, but that is not a good reason for carrying out the activity. Theft is an illegal practice punishable by all laws in various countries. As I was saying, this booming business of cell phone theft is very popular with thieves because they are small and easy to take, can bring in an easy $50 and are quite easy to sell.
Many efforts have been tried by various manufacturers to try and make tracking stolen phones easier. There are some cell phone communication providers that are able to track where your phone is, that is if you report, and to have it tracked down you may have to part with a few hundred or thousand dollars. Does that mean that each time your phone is stolen you will keep going to them? You may end up spending a lot more!
But thanks to technology and all its advancements, it is possible now for individuals to know where there phones are. This technology incorporates both programming ability and satellite tracking systems. Here are some basics of how this technology works:
First of all, this technology best works if you have a 3G phone (3rd generation phone). These are the kinds of phone that can allow software to be downloaded onto them and have a few more advanced features. One then has to download the software into his phone. To have it properly activated, you would have to by the license key. After that, part of the information you have to give is the cell phone number of someone you constantly meet or a trusted friend (spouse, brother, sister…etc). So, incase your phone is stolen, as soon as your sim card is removed by whoever has that phone, a text message (sms) will be sent to the number you had provided during the registration. The message has the relevant details of the exact location of the phone. It is then up to you to take the necessary (legal) steps to recover your stolen cell phone.
Pretty simple…huh!
